Legal Receptionist/Administrative Assistant
One of the premier criminal defense law practices in the Roanoke Valley is seeking to add a motivated, detail-oriented, and dependable professional to our firm in Roanoke City.
For the right applicant, we offer a dynamic, challenging opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our clients and to help uphold the principle that everyone deserves fair treatment before the law. At its core, criminal law is an exercise in human understanding and communication, and our firm fights hard to help those who cannot help themselves.
This position directly supports one of Roanoke’s most experienced trial attorneys, who regularly advocates on behalf of those accused of state and federal felony charges, including murder, burglary, robbery, sexual offenses, gang, and narcotics charges.
Prior legal experience is not required, but applicants must be detail-oriented, committed, and dependable. Exceptional spelling and grammar are mandatory, as our clients depend on us to be prepared, and even small errors can impact the outcome of a case. Prior experience working in an office is greatly preferred, as is the ability to write a standard business letter.
The nature of criminal defense demands that all team members exhibit strong integrity and the ability to handle matters of confidentiality and discretion. As our work sometimes deals with emotional issues and topics some may find disturbing, we strive to retain a fact-driven and professional approach while consistently demonstrating respect and kindness to everyone who walks through our doors.
Individuals who are self-motivated and quick to learn will find the position especially rewarding, as it regularly offers new challenges, and those who excel will have ample opportunities to become more deeply involved in supporting our legal cases.
We are a small firm, so successful candidates must be able to operate with minimal direction, foresee and handle issues in a professional manner, and demonstrate initiative and confidence in their work.
